Life is busy. Plain and simple.
Do I have a million things I'd like to sit and blog about, you bet.
Can I find the time to do so, sure, but then that means that something else that needs to get done, won't.
So, unfortunately, blogging about life has taken a back seat.
I'm thankful that I have a notebook in which I write frequent letters to Carter so I don't feel nearly as guilty for not writing more in the blog. However, I do feel badly because I know family keeps up with Carter through this method... so, I'm going to be working on creating another way to do so.
Soon, this blog will be closed down, but until then, I'll blog when I can.

First Mother's Day
It doesn't seem like a year has passed since last year when we celebrated the fact that I was pregnant... yet, here we were, one year later and one baby later. I am beyond happy to have our little guy here. I sometimes still forget that I'm a mommy. I'm not sure I can explain it correctly, but I feel like I've always been a mommy so that actual title sometimes surprises me, like it's not new. I don't know if I'm saying that right...
Regardless, I had a wonderful morning with my two guys and then headed out for a morning run when C went down for a nap. We showered and headed over to my mother-in-laws for a Subway platter lunch. It was delish! We came home and took a family nap and before I knew it, it was time to get ready for the next day.
While Mother's Day is a day to stop and celebrate Mother's of all kinds (foster, adoptive, to-be, in waiting, of furbabies) it felt different to me than I thought it would. Today I celebrated the fact that Carter made me the Mommy I am today and I love the idea that we'll grow and change together.

5 month update--late again
Age: 5 Months on April 24
I continue to be late on these and am not going to apologize. Life with a baby is busy!
Weight: 18 pounds 2 ounces
Height: 27 inches
Clothing Size: the 6 month clothing is getting small. We will soon move to 9 months
Sleep: Sleeping well during the day and getting better at night!
Eating: Still nursing. He's still taking the bottle pretty well and we've started baby cereal and veggies for babies. He loves sweet carrots, sweet potatoes and doesn't mind green beans. He wasn't a fan of peas and definitely hated the chicken and gravy. We've been using Beech Nut food and I look forward to the summer when I'll try the actual fruit and veggies.

Beer Tasting Party {Hubs turns 30}
I had a blast planning this beer tasting party. It was hard to decide what to do for his birthday but I knew I wanted it to be special. I was brainstorming with my friend when she reminded me that we could use the clubhouse that goes with her parent's condo community. It was perfect! I instantly knew I wanted to do beer... but what I didn't know. So, where did I go? Pinterest!
Old school games to entertain
Originally I decided I would make signs and labels and then it became clear that there was no way that work would be done with my 3 month old son who refused to nap anywhere but on me!
So, I went to the internet yet again and found an Etsy shop that sold the templates for a great price. All I had to do was print and create.
Cake.
It's a Blue Moon Beer Bottle Cap
All the beer at the end of the night. This is just one table!
Each guest got a cup with a pencil {the flags were created to go on toothpicks for cupcakes but I had other ideas in mind} and a scoring sheet. They went around and tasted the beers and wrote notes about each one. I collected the sheets and my mom helped me tally it up. The person who brought the favorite beer of the night won a $15 gift card to the liquor store. The person who brought the birthday boy's favorite beer also won a gift card to the liquor store. It was so fun!
And he did!

My baby duck
Yup. I did this to my child. He is awesome and put up with it!
If you are concerned about his face {I say that because everyone asks what happens when they see these pics} check out my Easter post from yesterday.
