Going to Mom's Group

While I was pregnant with Carter I went to prenatal yoga classes at this center close by.  It was a great way to be around other pregnant women who knew exactly how I felt to feel huge and sore!  It was also a great way to make some new friends.  This center has a wide variety of classes and groups you can attend with your child. This is where Jarod and I took our birthing, breastfeeding and newborn care classes.  I was very much looking forward to attending mom's group once baby was here.

My friend from yoga had her baby 3 weeks before me and started going to mom's group.  I had asked her when she went for the first time. She said when her baby girl was 2 weeks old. At first I thought it might be too soon, but by then I was ready to get out of the house! It was my second outing alone with Carter.  The first time out was the day before when I took him to his 2 week pediatrician's appointment.

I have been going each week since then.  Sometimes I'll go twice a week depending on how things are going.  It is nice to get out of the house and be around adults.  Sometimes Jarod works long days so I'm home alone anywhere from 12 to 18 hours.. those are the days when it's nice to get out.

I've made some more friendships and had some great bonding time with Carter.  It's been a wonderful way to be reminded that we aren't alone in this parenting thing and to get tips and tricks on how to make things easier for you and baby.

If you're going to have a baby soon or recently did, I highly recommend finding a mom's group in your area!  It's a wonderful source of support and fun.

That sounds like a great thing to do! Love the support that is offered! I feel like my breast feeding is sloppy- I'd love to go to something like that- that offers help support and friends!

Any tips you wanna share with us that you've found helpful to make life easier with baby?
